Island Bay United Club Rooms – Wakefield Park
All coaches and managers are encouraged to attend one of our information evenings. This is also the time when you can collect your team gear bag.
New coaches and managers – 7pm Monday 20 March
We recommend all new coaches and managers attend the first session on Monday 20th March, where we will run an Introduction to Coaching Course and give you a good overview of how things work. It is also a good opportunity to reconnect with the club, fellow coaches, exchange ideas and discuss training schedules.
Any existing coaches and managers keen on a refresher can also come along. You will also collect your team gear bag. Callum Holmes from Capital Football and IBU Junior Football Development Manager Martin Garcia will be in attendance.
Experienced coaches and managers – 7pm Tuesday 21 March
We recommend our more experienced coaches and managers come on Tuesday 21st March. In addition to collecting your gear bag, we will give you lots of useful information such as changes to rules and regulations and answer any questions.
We look forward to seeing you there.

In case you missed it over the summer, here is a great yarn from Stuff / DomPost about football participation at IBU. Represent… (Click through to next page to get the link to the full story.) Continue reading “Hale and hearty at IBU”
The IBU Flames squad had a great run in the national McCartney Tournament in Taupo with a second place (on goal difference) in the Girls U15 comp. An unfortunate Phoenix-like draw at the wrong stage left them needing 10 goals in the final game to come top, and they were running hot but managed 7! Well done girls.
Some of the best young talent of the IBU Juniors have been achieving at high level in the past few weeks.
With several players chosen in the Capital Federation Futsal squads for the July Nationals, Darren Yong and Ruairi Meredith put on a great show in U-12 Capital Yellow, which won the nationals against squads from around the country, with only one loss in three days of games and Darren as the team’s second top scorer. Nice! Cheyenne Vithal, Paris Marshall and Nicole Dalley were part of the under 15 girls Capital squad with Alice Wright in the reserves, though the girls had a tougher time.
Meanwhile on a grass field in Sydney! Jared Wong and Abe Tahau of 13th Sharks were part of the 2003 Capital Federation boys squad that travelled to Sydney for the M Sports Cup. Abe’s place was partly possible due to team-mate Grainger Scott dropping out after breaking his ankle, but Abe made the most of it with Capital the highest placed NZ team, only a few points behind eventual winners the Newcastle Jets. And the Capital boys were the only team to beat Newcastle, with Abe the only striker to score against them in the tournament.
Julianna Quinn, Therese Wright, Erykah Newport and Tallulah Nemet-Sargent travelled with the Capital Girls squad. Both Capital teams finishing in creditable mid-table positions.
Meanwhile further congrats to Ruairi Meredith and Samuel Moore, who have been added to the Wellington 2004 boys federation squad, joining IBU team mates Epeli Kiloni, Flynn Crocker, Darren Yong and Dawson Elliot.
Well done to all!
