Douglas Villa Tournament

Several IBU teams were in action at the Douglas Villa Tournament in Masterton last weekend (September 22nd) and an enjoyable day had by all with some good results and one or two missed opportunities. The 12th Grade JPL team worked hard to come second in their pool, just short of making the final in their grade. As one of the few girls-only teams, the IBU Flames lost 2 games against good sides but won against a Masterton team and draw 1-1 with a Mirimar travel league team to feel it was a great success. In the 14th Grade the Great Whites had tough competition with JPL and Promo teams in the pool, finished with a win and some close games, unlucky not to pull off a draw with Stop Out.

The 14th JPL Sharks had a great run to the final, where they played unbeaten hosts Douglas Villa. Sharks couldn’t find the winner, and after a nil-all thriller the penalty shoot out when against them, losing 4-1 on penalties. Tough end to a great tourney but football was the winner on the day!
